  1. Which program is the best to use?

  2. I can just recommend VCD easy. I was using Nero 5.5 and I made the experience that burning with VCD easy improves the picture quality dramatically. I do not know why, but it is fact, at least on my machine. Another aspect is that I was not able to recall the menu during the menu. I like the flexible way to define this in VCD easy. It might not be so comfortable as Nero, but give it a try, it is worth it.

  3. Sorry for my mistake. I wanted to say that I was not able to recall the menu during the movie.

  4. I am a happy user of NERO. I started using nero way back when after I took a shot at VCDEASY and couldn't get it to work for me (Nero, to me, is the "slap the CD in, push a button and you have a VCD/SVCD/CVD" program". Basically, nero (and vcdeasy) can give you the basic end result of watching your video on your stand alone DVD player, but VCDEASY can be used to do things that nero can't.

The nero vs vcdeasy (and other programs) have been heavily debated in other posts and, well, it boils down to what your use for the burning software is, your personal preference, and if you want to pay for a product or get it free (nero=$$$$, vcdeasy=free).

  5. Hi
Nero is a great burning tool but widely accepted not to be the best encoding tool. TMPGenc as a good encoding tool and you'll get much better pictures. You can still use Nero to burn. Sorry, can't comment on VCDEasy - not used it yet - but intend to.

Never give up trying, you're almost always nearly there.

  6. Nero is only for those who want a simple multitrack VCD.

Nero menus have an authoring bug and don't work properly on all players. I suggest a better program if you want menus.

VCDEasy is a relatively simple GUI / XML authoring aid to VCDImager. It allows you to make menus + chapters relatively easily.

Maybe it's the bug vitualis mentions - I've never made a VCD with Nero that my DVD would swallow (Centrum Libra (=Vestel, SEG Hollywood II...)
VCDEasy on the other hand has never let me down, nether for authoring nor for burning.

(This led me to try BurnAtOnce, a free CD writing software that uses the same "engine" (cdrdao) as VCDEasy, and I will never try Nero again, when it comes to burning an ISO or BIN. Now, if I just can find a front for MKISOFS too, I can throw Nero (and every other piece of one-size-fits-all CD writing software) out the window it came in thru!)
