Hi:
I create a mpg1 file with VCD specs using TMPGEnc. The video is great but the audio is too low. What can I do to improve the audio level without having to decode the audio file again and use TMPGEnc to create the movie file again. In other words I want to fix the audio level in the file I already create. Is there a way to do it?
Thanks for you help!

I think you use TMPEng's Mpeg Tools to seperate the audio and video. Then use other software to increase the volume on the audio and then put the audio and video back togethor in TMPEng (Mpeg Tools). If you go to Mpeg Tools using the file button in TMPENG you will see tabs for Demuxing and Remuxing The signal.

If you frame-serve with DVD2AVI it has an audio "normalize" function that bring the audio to a normal level. If you using the plus version of Tmpeg it also has an audio normalize function in the audio tab.

Hi:
Ok I did separate the audio and the video with the TMPEng's Mpeg Tools. I got two files one video and the other an audio file with mp2 extension. Can anyone tell me which software may I use to increase the volume of this mp2 file?

In the future, you can normalize the audio right in TMPGenc while encoding. Go to, setting, audio, use audio edit, setting, change volume. You can raise the volume there.
For now, demux, and just reencode the audio track only again with the info above and remux again. -

Those instructions are exactly how you get to the right place. Those instruction are for the latest version.

Now reload the original video into TMPGenc and and used the audio tab as described in the previous post to increase the audio. Before you hit Start look down in the lower right where it says "stream type" and click "audio only". You may have to load the unlock template first. Then hit Start.
Now all you have to do is use mpeg tools to combine the video part that you got before to the new audio that you just created.
That's one way, anyway. -
Which version is your TMPGenc? My audio tab doesn't have the audio edit option.

Please do not respond that last stupid question.
I just found that I am using a very old version of TMPGenc.
Thank you for all your help.

Hi Presto,
I have a simple question (sorry, i am really really a beginner), I hope you can help me.
1) After ranma_st increased the volume of the audio part, he would have a new audio file. There is another part, that is the video part (which is UNEDITED).
2) If we were to use MUX to combine these 2 parts together, we would get a new .mpg file with increased audio volume.
3) My concern is, would this MUX process re-encode the original video part and thus reducing the VIDEO quality of the resultant new .mpg file?
Or does the MUX process just simply combine the 2 Video & Audio parts together without any loss / compression whatsoever?
Please pardon me for posting this simple question, I will try to learn from the experience of you guys! Thanks a lot!
Have a nice day!

Also double-click on "Options" to set the bitrate(just in case). Then click Start.
You can also extract the audio as wave and use the Nero Wave Editor(included with Nero Burning prog). Just open the file, wait until the wave model appears, highlight the whole wave(CTRL+A), then apply the "Change Volume" option( Volume--> Change Volume). Then Save. -

3)No, Mux doesnt reduce the video quality, it just join the files(but maybe the final mpg will be a little bit bigger than the original).
