  1. Does anyone know what input formats can be used by this program WITHOUT it converting its video formats....ie it appears to me that VCDs just have thier audio resampled to 48KHz independent of what you select for the encode rates...if true this is great! perhaps MPEG2 with the right format ie 704x480 would also....anybody know?

  2. If you haven't already done so, download and install the 1.2 patch. There is a new option that disables the re-encoding of compatible stream.

  3. I downloaded the patch and it tells me it does not see ver 1.0 on my machine. If I try to run the patch with the program running it says shut it down then run the patch. Any ideas how to correct this?

If you are running the trial version of DVDWS the patch will not work.

  5. fyi, I am using V1.2.....that's not my question..I know it won't re-encode compatible formats...my question is what does it consider "compatible" because MPEG1 with 48KHz audio is "DVD compatible" but most authoring tools won't use it...thanks

  6. If the destination is a DVD the DVDWS requirements audio is 48KHz AC3, LPCM, or mpeg 1 layer 2. The acceptable video resolutions are 720 x 480, 704 by 480, 352 x 480, and 352 x 240.

  7. Are those the olny resolutions DVD Workshop will take?

I've got a couple of MPEG2s that are SVCD and will burn with SpruceUp with the DVD-R/SVCD trick, but DVD Workshop won't just handle the video. I'm sick of software not letting me make my own mistakes, even if they'll play on my DVD player...

I thought of another idea that I've yet to try. It'll take a bit of harddrive space and some time, but use SpruceUp to create a DVD title with only 1 SVCD movie on it. Do the DVD-R/SVCD trick (check the VCD/SVCD to DVD-R guide) to temporarily set, then let SpruceUp create the title.

In DVD Workshop, link to the movie vob and try creating DVD with it.

I suspect DVD Workshop will end up checking the video again and complaining it's not right.

If ANYONE has any suggestions for DVD authoring software that'll let me still anything I want on a DVD-R, let us know please.

    Thanks.

  8. Sorry, I meant create a TS_VIDEO and replace the DVD Workshop encoded vobs with ones from SpruceUp, using the DVDR/SVCD trick.

    Need to try this.

  9. Hi,

I make SVCD disks with my standalone that are 352X480 with 44KHZ audio. I then copy these to the hard drive and import them into DVDWS. DVDWS does not touch the video - it simply converts the audio.
