  1. Okay. I'm new to the burning vcd's idea. I've been downloading a bunch of mpeg files from Kazaa, so I can burn them onto a cd and play them in my dvd player. I have just a regular CD-R drive, and I've been using Easy CD Creator 4. I looked on a bunch of sites for help, but I can't find any answers to even get me started. I read on a site that I should download DivX, so I did and now I don't know what to do with it. So can someone just give me some step-by-step instuctions on how to do this? If anyone can help me I would be soooo grateful. Thanks.

firt read this link for divx-
    http://vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/111846.php preferred way

and this link for both divx and mpeg-

these two post will get you on your way to being an advanced newbie(ther really aren't any experts, we are all learning everyday)

also, try burning your mpeg's directly to a cdrw(so that you can erase if it don't work,i would say cdr to cancell out media compatibillity), and then pop it in your standalone dvd player. it just may play 8)
