I have a 14GB mpeg2 file that has 4-5 episodes of a TV show on it, I would like to split them in approx. 50 minute files and save the spits up in seperate files so I can convert them to mkv files. Does anyone know of a piece of free software that will do this? John

With mpeg2cut 2 can you save all the files at once? can you trim them in one pass so it save all the file from all the cuts?

  3. Don't know, as I've never used it for that. And, unless I read the original post wrong, that's not what you asked - to be able to make all the splits at once. You asked to split them into 50 minute segments (by episodes, I assumed) and then to save them all in different files You use the [ and ] buttons to isolate what you want. Save it, and then do it again until you get all the episodes. If you had begun after reading the reply, even if having to do them all separately, you'd be done by now.

Do it in one pass by putting the in/out times in a delimited text file, then reading it with a FOR loop in a batch file that calls FFmpeg with the appropriate params. It will output straight to MKV.
