I downloaded a video file that I thought was in 1920x1080 but it's actually in 1280x1080. MPC-HC doesn't play it in 1920x1080 but Windows Media player does?

Anyways my issue is that I want to be 1920x1080 so I can upload it.

    Can anyone help?

  2. Perhaps it is anamorphic and there is no need to change it to 1920x1080?

Hmm, is there anything I can change in Handbrake that will change it to 1920x1080 so it shows up as that when I upload it to a site?

  4. Is your footage DVCPRO HD? If so, they are anamorphic pixels as pandy suggests. DVCPRO HD is 1280x1080 SAR with a 3:2 PAR which equates to 16:9 DAR. So yes, you need to scale the video up to the proper 1920x1080 square pixel (non-anamorphic) resolution because, as you have found, some players won't play it properly.

I don't use Handbrake, but I would think there is a setting somewhere in there to tell it to scale the video to 1920x1080 and also let Handbrake know you have a 3:2 PAR.

Alternatively, are there black pillar boxes on the top and bottom of the video. IOW, what you really downloaded was 1280x720 content that was put in a strange format? If so, you would need to crop the pillar boxes first. 1280x720 with 1:1 PAR is 16:9 DAR. At this point, if you want, you could scale up to 1920x1080, but that is probably wasted effort.

There are not black pillar boxes. Handbrake doesn't let me scale it more than 1280x1080 for some reason.
