    How many tapes do you have? Have you looked at the cost of just replacing them with DVD's

    My tapes are mostly documentaries and obscure B movies. None of them are on DVD.

    I know its an old thread but today while measuring current draw on some other devices I decided to take a look at my ADVC-100 (2001 construction). Average current draw with active s-video input is around 870mA.
