  1. Clonezilla is an excellent program, does the job, fast, works with a variety of connections, includes the necessary boot disk.

The vast majority of PC users will be absolutely scared shitless by what passes for a "User Interface".

Just read and be careful and you'll be fine, as with any imaging program. But this is one that I would hesitate to recommend to most users.

    ROTFL, what frustration?
I don't think I have ever been frustrated. Maybe you meant Microsoft? (putting Vista on diet and repackaging it as Windows 7 must have been frustrating to many Vista coders...) or,
perhaps, you meant yourself ? (after all, adding ad libitum your own thoughts in my mouth is an act of frustration too)

    Unless
making a choice or not buying something one not need is a frustration in your opinion?
In that case I suggest searching what term frustration really means

    As for backup software:
    I highly suggest SnapShot
I have been using it for few years, and all of my friends whom I recommended it to (novice and experts alike) praise it highly as well.

It used to be $19 IIRC, but I guess inflation in EuroLand is worse than here and nowadays it'll cost you EUR 39.00
but it is still worth every penny (unlike some operating systems...).
    Excellent piece of coding work.

I would NEVER recommend using quick format. Just saying.

This is also what I was thinking,.

The clue (for me) as to this thread's age was the OP inquiring about HDDs with capacities of 80GB and 500GB
