Comcast/NBC is trying to raise the sinking Oprah network? Or is this the way they fire Oprah?
Last time anything like this was when Roy Orbison was known to be close to death. But they had him perform (e.g. ACL and later the "Black and White").

I never saw this. I've been curious since your post, however.
I think premium exotic channels have been screwed since the recession.
Even before that time, frilly satellite radio and TV stations were in danger, due to costs.
After a while, there get to be too many channels.
And that, in turn, leads to spread viewerships, which results in lower budgets, which results in crap shows.
That circle gives us content nobody wants to pay for.
It's also lead to knee-jerk cancellations if a show isn't an instant hit.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I hear you... I'm still waiting for the 3rd season of V, which I will never get to see because they didn't get one hundred million watchers.
Now everytime I get hooked to a series I wonder at the season's end if I'll ever see the continuation or it will get cancelled on the spot because of whatever reason.
I think it is disrespectful to leave the viewers like that, at least they should so one or two more episodes and try to wrap it up, even if it's a lame ending.1f U c4n r34d 7h1s, U r34lly n33d 2 g3t l41d!!! -

One interesting thing was I checked out the THRESHOLD dvds and they were talking about their plans for the show. Didn't make it a full season of course but interesting that they talked about how far they were trying to take it.
That is one great thing about dvd releases is even canned series get a lifeline to at least have cast and crew interviews after its 86'd.
- I tried posting this earlier this evening but my wireless connection cut out while I was posting. I had the foresight to copy and paste my post while it was taking longer than usual to post the post. Anyway after hassling with the wifi pci card on my desktop I finally unplugged my cable modem and refreshed the ip in the comcast desktop doctor program and finally I'm back up. Yes, something like that would be more than enough, it would be much better than just leave us hanging there without even a "I'm sorry but your series won't be returning".

I'm still feeling the end of "Lost" had so many loose ends they didn't know how to pull off a credible ending but worst were the shows that followed Lost. What about that bank robbery thing? (forgot the name)

you're talking about, 'the nine' (tim daly, from Wings) i thought it was going good at first, but they pulled the plug on that w/out notice. thirteen episodes were made but after third or fourth ep. . .
Farscape had more time to close out i think. i began watching in 2nd season and was hooked and then found out they were cancelling it, but they closed it out in plenty of time if i remember correctly. a great searies in my opinion. after a few years i gave up hoping for a revival. -
