  1. I want to capture SVCD-format 640x480 of my old VHS-tapes.

When I capture with my tv/capture-card (leadtek winfast 2000 xp) it works but the card only captures in low quality mpeg. I want to capture in high quality .avi and I have tried both Virtualdub, Premiere and Ulead mediastudio and even if I change the format in those programs the captured file will be only 352x288.
In Virtualdub I get the message: "Error 418: Unsupported video format" when i try to change the settings to my desired format.

Could you please help me with a solution to my problem.

  2. dont know the particulars of your capture card, but it sounds like your card cannot capture above the 320x240/288 limit for your card (probably due to driver issues - XP uses WDM drivers).

Anyway, short answer is to download a copy of IUVCR. This program will use the WDM wrapper and allow you to cap above the 320x240 AVI.

  3. Or just download the wdm wrapper and use Virtual Dub...you really can't go wrong with Virtual Dub...it is an amazing program. Just do a search for 'wrapper' in the forums and you'll find a link. Good luck.
