  1. I took some interesting sexy video during a recent trip, and didn't want to bring it across the border, so I transferred it to my home PC. When I go home I could view the contents, but the icon itself is blank and I can't retrieve it to edit in Pinnacle 14 HD. Is there a way to give the empty white folder icon a face? Right now it just looks like a piece of paper with a fold at the top right corner, and it does have a name at the bottom. I know it's a funny question, but don't know how else to describe it. I'd be happy to upload one of the folders but don't want to offend anyone. (There are 2 girlfriends involved playing around).

What? Can you play it VLC?

I don't see what the icon has to do with anything.

install mediainfo (it's free). open the file with mediainfo, use the text view and copy/paste the info here.

  4. I already had media info but I couldn't paste it into this text box. I snipped it and attached a jpg.

LIke I said earlier, I can open and watch in both VLC and WMP, but when I try to edit it in a video editing program like Pinnacle, it won't even find the file. I think it has something to do with the way I transferred it over the web from South America to hear in the States. It might be missing part of the file. It seams there should be an easy way to fix it though.

rename the file - 00087.mts it's missing the period so nothing can tell what the file is.

  7. I have another file with a similiar problem, but this one says that the AVI is broken and seeking isn't working, and that it will take a long time to fix. I tried that, but didn't seem to work. Here is the media info.

I noticed a discrepancy between the duration under General and and Audio. I don't understand why this file is named .mts when it identifies itself as AVI. I am not really up on camcorder video as I don't own one so I could well be mistaken here, but that seems wrong to me.

that second one is messed up. some sort of uncompresed video? size is wrong, aspect ratio is wrong, video plus audio bitrates don't come anywhere near the overall bitrate, audio is 16bit which should be 48khz. it goes on....

try avidemux with video and audio on copy, container set to avi and call it something ending with .avi

i don't have much hope it will be able to sort that mess but give it a try. and yes it may take a really long time.

  10. I decided to try your solution on a file that doesn't seem quite as screwed up, but although it brings up the first frame, it does nothing after pressing "configure". Am I SOL with these or is there any hope of fixing them? Here's the info on the other one. Any idea what I did wrong to create these problems? I've done these videos many times and transfer them via Logmein to my home PC, but this time I did use a new computer, and the internet connection wasn't as good as usual. I guess it was something as simple as an inadequate internet connection for transferring HD Video.
