When I plug my old DV camera into the 'firewire' plug on my lappie I have a fully functional video input for capture, streaming and telephony applications. We have had wireless radios in SD cards for a few years now. So where is the software that turns my SD card camera into a wireless video input device. I did some digging on Amazon etc but all they talk about is file transfers.

Have you tried windows media encoder? It has streaming capabilities. So does vlc to some extent.

Are you looking for software side applications or hardware devices?

Also what exactly do you mean by sd card camera? Do you mean a standard definition camera with a memory card? Do you have a make and model you'd like to share?Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Sorry for being slow. I was just thinking that any camera that uses an SD card for storage, encodes the video 'stream' and writes to the card. Instead of using the SD wireless to 'later' read the stream as stored on the SD card why no read and transmit the video and audio as the camera delivers it. ie live-stream the camera output via the wireless equipped SD card? Any camera with SD storage could be used.

VLC would make an excellent client video receiver.Last edited by mbur; 16th Feb 2011 at 14:49. Reason: vlc
