  1. hello!

i have an old HP m1270n desktop from 2005 which came with a hauppage capture card. im not sure what card it is, cause i'd have to take the card out to read the serial or part numbers. however, it has inputs for while yellow and red cables, as well as the antenna cable.

the program that the computer came with to capture and edit video was intervideo windvd creator (i think thats what its called). however, when i go to capture from it, it doesnt do a good job. the only options it has for capturing is mpeg dvd format, and when i do capture it, the video looks choppy like it has low framerate. most of the options for capturing are disabled in the program.

i wonder if there is a program that will let me capture things properly with my card.

  2. Device Manager will probably tell you what the model is.

  3. The Best software: fly2000tv (never tested with hauppauge cards but try) (can record in avi or mpeg with Intervideo codecs so you might wanna install intervideo windvr3 aswell to have these codecs.

Second best is Dscaler (not good for recordings, excellent for preview which is a shame imo)

  5. I think that's a PVR-150. Hardware MPEG2 encoding cards like that are usually restricted to the software that comes with them (WinTV2000?) and some of the PVR software vendors (SageTV, BeyondTV, etc). But try VirtualDub in addition to the programs themaster1 suggested.

I'd love to know if any Hauppauge capture tools come with WDM drivers that would make them supported by VirtualDub. I doubt it.
I hate VHS. I always did.

The WinTV Go does not hardware encode like the PVR cards do.
