  1. Hi! I hadn't played an audio-CD (*.cda files) on pc for long. Yesterday I noticed that wmp9 doesn't show artist and titles; just track 1, track 2 etc. I wonder if this is normal. I played the CD with another software (nokia) and it did display the titles. Anybody has an idea?

    Audio CDs don't have any information about the artists, just the music.

    However, some players can check the specs of a CD -- the exact track lengths, for example, and use that as a "fingerprint" and look it up in online indexes like CDDB, and then display the information about the album.

    I don't know if WMP has such an option, but that's how other players do it.

    .cda is not a file, it's Windows' file-look imitation of what it recognizes as CD track. Any information of CD tracks can only be written as CD-Text option (some CDs have it and only some players/programs read and display it).
