  1. Hey folks,

Can anyone recommend a good DV recorder deck? Frankly, I'm getting tired of hooking up my DV camcorder to my cable box in order to capture shows digitally.

    Unless there's a better way.....

  3. Any clue what brand or model?

Basically I'm looking for a miniDV VCR with VHS capabilities such as timer recording, etc.

Or is there some other way I can do this?

  4. You can look at http://www.bhphotovideo.com . They have a whole smattering of video equipment. They probably have what your looking for.

  5. No VCR functions (i.e. timer recording) but we picked up a Panasonic AG DV1000 for just under $1k. Mini DV only, but it handles firewire pretty well.

  6. Thanks for the tips.. I think I found one at the BHP Photo..

Another question.. do you folks think that this is the best way to do what I'm doing?

Currently I tape a show onto my DV camera..then I take my camera to my PC via IEEE 1394, then capture the video via Premiere 6. I then edit out the stuff I dont want, and frameserve it to TMPGEnc to create an MPG2 file that I then burn to SVCDs...

Seeing as my cable box only has S-Video out and RCA Audio Out.. does anyone out have a better way to accomplish my task?

    Thanks for your help!
