    Hi Guys,

    Will this work, without harm"

My Panasonic DMP BD80 requires ehternet connection , for streaming. It's not practical to run a cable so:

Plug into the back of the Panasonic s ""ethernet to USB female"" adapter connector. Or Lan side of connector plugs into the Panasonic. The other end of the connector "female USB" would get a Wireless USB network adapter. My wireless router would then be picked up by the the USB adapter plugged into the Panasonic . Goal stream HD from Netflix.

I'm using dsl at 7.1 mbs.

    Thanks
    Rico

Just do it and if it doesn't work then use a cat5/6 cable....nuff said....You won't know if you don't try it out... If the signal doesn't connect to the Panasonic bluray player then it won't work.

I doubt it will work. The Wireless USB network adapter needs power, which is supplied through a normal USB port. But I think that normal RJ-45 ethernet doesn't have power. And software-wise, PCs need specific drivers for each kind of USB wifi dongle, so your player certainly won't be able to communicate with it even if it did have power.

There are gadgets, with their own power source, that can bridge ethernet to wifi.

Or maybe look at powerline ethernet.

  4. No, it won't work. As mentioned, power and drivers are the problem.

What might work is ethernet to a wireless router configured as a bridge. This solution has worked for xbox360 units which have a similar configuration. Power is supplied seperately to the device and no drivers are required.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the responses: I never knew about bridge/ethernet.

    So something like "
Linksys Wireless-N EN Bridge with Dual-Band WET610N Bridge. Would accomplish the task, correct?? Ethernet to wireless

    Thanks

  6. Yes, but it is much more expensive. Cheaper routers can do it with third-party firmware.

  7. Another problem is the Panasonic BD80 does not support DLNA so you can't stream from your PC, the newer BD85 has Netflix built-in and comes with a Wi-Fi dongle. Get a Roku or Apple TV for $99, I have a Roku and it works great.
