I just came back from europe.

I bought a vcr that has pal and ntsc playback on pal tv. I am in USA.

Now it was a very dumb idea but I had in mind to use pal vcr through my capture card which apparently does have PAL B/G PAL M PAL N and secam besides NTSC.

Now, an amazing thing occured when I saw that the panasonic vcr does not have any rca jacks even though it's stereo vcr. Apparently through reading the manual I figured that this could be due to nicam sound or something like that.

It's not important anymore. VCR works fine with 110 Volts even though it is not designed to work with it. Maybe that could be the reason. Here' s the outcome for the whole thing.

I am able to get the picture (surprisingly). However it is only black and white. I am able to adjust it a little bit so I can get some color. Sound is not available at all. I am using coax only. Apparently there is also this 21 pin connector as well.

What I am asking is what should be done with this to make it work if possible? I am thinking about just buying a multi system vcr here for 300 bucks (which is usually the price for them).

These are the screenshots for the picture quality at it's best:

    Thanks

The 21 connector thing is a SCART plug and is what you need to play with to get a decent picture from the VCR.

If you were still in Europe then you could get a SCART to 3xRCA cable (Composite Video, LAudio, RAudio). At a guess, you're probably going to have to make one yourself.

Hey thanks, I was thinking that it would be some sort of better than coax thing to use.

Anyways I ended up buying a multi system vcr in the US.

It was $325 and a pretty darn good one. It's samsung 5000W I think.

Well color and sound problem is solved.
