  1. I recently bought a WDTV HD Live box & am having trouble routing the audio to my Sony 5.1 Audio system.

I have WDTV HD Live, Sony DVD 5.1 Player & 5.1 speakers connected to the DVD player. I am trying to play a 5.1 movie on the WD HDTV Live & route the audio [fromt he A/V port of WDTV] to the DVD Player [Input RCA jack] which should ideally act as the 5.1 decoder & stream audio to the 5 speakers. But the problem is I can only hear audio from one speaker alone.

Setup: * Connected the WDTV HD Live to my TV using a HDMI cable
    * Connected the A/V output to my Sony DVD player using a Stereo to RCA jack.

Is it necessary that I need a stand-alone 5.1 decoder or is there a way to route 5.1 audio to the DVD player?

PS: The DVD player only has an RCA input jack.

  2. The RCA outputs are stereo only. If you want real 5.1 you need to use the digital output from the WDTV Live to a digital receiver.
