I recently bought a WDTV HD Live box & am having trouble routing the audio to my Sony 5.1 Audio system.
I have WDTV HD Live, Sony DVD 5.1 Player & 5.1 speakers connected to the DVD player. I am trying to play a 5.1 movie on the WD HDTV Live & route the audio [fromt he A/V port of WDTV] to the DVD Player [Input RCA jack] which should ideally act as the 5.1 decoder & stream audio to the 5 speakers. But the problem is I can only hear audio from one speaker alone.
Setup: * Connected the WDTV HD Live to my TV using a HDMI cable
* Connected the A/V output to my Sony DVD player using a Stereo to RCA jack.
Is it necessary that I need a stand-alone 5.1 decoder or is there a way to route 5.1 audio to the DVD player?
PS: The DVD player only has an RCA input jack.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!

The RCA outputs are stereo only. If you want real 5.1 you need to use the digital output from the WDTV Live to a digital receiver.
