The earliest burned disc that I found so far was a CD that I burned on a Pioneer stand alone CD Recorder and was burned in 1994. In fact the disc is a Pioneer Brand media (Model #RDD-60). I believe that I paid about $20.00 per blank. I didn't own the burner it belonged to the company that I worked for. The company was a high end AV retailer and my boss was nice enough to let me burn a few disc's. The disc still plays OK. In fact I am listening to the recording as I am typing this post.

1998 cd-r ricoh 80 mins with music on & txt data with some aps...(called programs in them days.lol)
still work fine .I have some older stuff too.
and some dreamcast games from around the same time & they still work
this is the prices i used have im my company product guide from 1998.for cd-r & Hard drives all prices where excluding VAT
