I have been editing a wedding on Ulead Media Studio Pro 8 and have lost hours of editing work because my .dvp file has disappeared. I figured out that when you reach your maximum number of autosaves this is when the problem occurs. Mine was set to 99 and I just increased it to 999. Not that that helps me now. I have already lost the .dvp file. Anyway... Is there anyone who has had this problem or could explain why the project file just disappears or better yet how to find it???? Thanks.

    Valuable lesson time...

Whenever you want to edit something that you CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE, always keep the original in untouched form.

You could always get the subjects of the wedding together again and reshoot everything.

As for recovering anything, I would say your chances are slim to none.

The dvp file isnt a video file,it just saves the projects info,do a search for dvp and you might find the file somewhere.Your original video file(s) are safe unless you manually deleted them yourself.

Also you can try a program such as recuva to see if the dvp file can be restored.

personally, I never autosave. Autosave will inevitably over-write the last version and if there's an error in the file-creation process then it is gone for good.

Just periodically 'save as' and create a new dvp with a new name such as movie01.dvp,movie02.dvp etc.

It that way if you lose one you always have an earlier version to fall back on.
