The M2TS header contains the following:
>exiftool.exe 00000.MTS
Video Stream Type : H.264 Video
Audio Stream Type : A52/AC-3 Audio
Audio Bitrate : 256000
Surround Mode : Not indicated
Audio Channels : 2
Image Width : 1920
Image Height : 1080
Date/Time Original : 2009:12:12 15:24:08
Audio Sample Rate : 48000
Image Size : 1920x1080
One of the most important piece of information is the date/time original.
I initially thought it would be in CPI file so I was trying to find tool to read it.
Now can someone tell me what else is in the CPI file? Is it worthwhile to keep them?
thanks!

Yes, it is good to keep the whole structure. mpls+clpi+bdmv files take less than a megabyte...
A lot of multiAVCHD users became such because they deleted these files and can no longer use the video in their camcoders/players/video-editing-apps...

I use Premiere CS4 and it seems to do fine with just mts files.
I guess a AVCHD player will look for the folder structure.
I'd want the name to reflect the original date time, not just a 5-digit number. So can I rename cpi and mts files?
Also, quite often I trim the mts file. This would mean CPI file does not actually contains the right information. Is there any way to fix that?
Thanks!
