For the first time ever, we actually had a plow in the back alley:

You can see, someone two doors down let us pile it in their back yard:

Since they were nice enough to allow this, I dug out their back sidewalk, the undone parts of their front sidewalk, the burms in front, back, and street side of their car (the light blue Camry in the handicapped spot):

I did have some help from the neighbor next door in the morning. I dug from 9:30AM to 4PM. Record snowfall for December. Normally we get 1.7" of snow in December. I think we got something like 18" - 20".

Well I'm glad Michigan escaped this one Last year about this time we had a 6-7" snow storm though. We do get the large snow storms at least once a season so I'm sure we're not totally spared this season.....

This kind of snow is a real problem because there is no place to put the snow. Fortunately there were enougu invalids in the immediate area who let us put the snow on their lawn as long was we cleared their sidewalks, etc.

Maybe on your side of the mitten, but on my side we had about 12 - 15 inches dumped on us overnight about a week ago. Took me a day and a half to dig out my driveway.

Pfft. Trolls talking about the snow they receive

I think my place near Houghton sees about 17 feet annually? Bizarre part is coming up from the lake into town to see even more of the white stuff. But if we get even a dusting of snow here in Dallas the entire city seems to shut down.

Yeah, my brother lives year around about 30 miles outside Munising. He laughs at our LP snowfall. That still doesn't make it any easier to shovel my driveway.

Rallynavvie: I was a Texan who was "Displaced in Minnesota" for 5 years because of a Job (Lake Superior Ships). I loved the people and the culture dearly but -20+ below temps and snow that reached my second floor window (April 1987) made me say no way, no more!! I'll take the Dallas weather every time!!! Just wait, summer will be here in April and arrive in Duluth in October.

Duluth is gorgeous, I would have loved to have grown up there instead of in the suburbs of the Cities. That's why I have the place on the lake up in the UP. I prefer the snow and the cold to the triple-digit heat. You can dress up to escape the cold but you can only dress down so much to escape the heat.

Saw the insane cold on the news that has hit both the US and Europe. Meanwhile, it is a balmy 97f (36c) over here today.

    Stay warm, people.
