Hey there. I am trying to take DVD's (that are all vob/ifo) of sports games and pull out little pieces of them to compile for archival purposes on an external drive. However, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this. I have access to Premiere Pro for Mac and PC and iMovie. I've tried it on both programs not knowing that neither would accept these DVD files and now I feel like I'm in over my head. Is there any easy way to do something like this or do i need to download some kind of converter? Is there a different program that I don't know about that might be the easiest option? THANKS!

DVDShrink is good for this. If you are exclusively Mac, MPEG StreamClip and Avidemux are two other free alternatives.

You'll need the MPEG2 component from Apple in order to have MPEG Streamclip operate on the DVDs (which are MPEG2). Note you do not need QuickTime Pro.
