  1. I am having a problem creating backups of my movies. The problem is that I have some movies have are over 700mb, due to the fact that I have lost movies before due to virus I want to back my movies up onto cd. But I am looking for a way to compress the file size in half so that each movie can fit on to one disk. Please help.

If your saying that youi dont care about VCD formats ...the best thing to use would be the endoder that gives you the best loss-less compression.
Right now that would probly be a divx-avi codec....
Dont know what format your starting off with...so look at the "how to " topics at the left here and find out how to convert what you have to divx.

Your movies are already compressed. You could re-compress them to a smaller size but you would lose quality.

Best solution may be to cut them into 700MB chunks and burn them individually onto CDs.

Use WinRar (NO COMPRESSION) tag all the AVI's and tell it to split them into 700Mb files.

    before due to virus
I Virus wont hurt movies, only re-formating your hard drive will
