it shouldn't be too hard.
1) transfer video to computer. download and install the free windv. plug in the firewire cable to the camera and the computer. turn on the camera. set the camera to "play mode" whit the tape you want to capture in it. start windv, click config, set it to type II avi, discontinuity to 0(or 1 if you want files split on pauses int he tape), and max avi size 1,000,000. click ok click the square box next to capt. file and give the files a location to save to and a name. put a check mark in the box next to capture. click capture. it will play the tape in real time and save the video to your hard drive.
2) convert files to xvid. lots of free programs to choose from - avidemux, mediacoder, handbrake, etc. choose one, import file set output to xvid. convert.
3) download the free imgburn to put the files in data format on dvd.
dvds in xvid format will not play on standard dvd players. you know that, right?
