i was reading information about dvd backup and the sites that i found described this software as a dvd to divx conversion software. is this right?
i want a software that will convert dvd to dvd-r and not convert it to anything else but a pure dvd rip.
is that available for mac?
where can i find it?
thanx

To just rip a vob in OS 9 you can use DVDExtractor or Yade.

i use dvdextractor and yade already. i want to be able to rip a dvd and have the audio and video already synced when its done, and just be able to burn the files that i get straight to a dvd-r using toast.
i'm not liking the quality i get when i convert my dvd rips to a vcd.
i want to end up with a pure dvd rip when i'm done.
i know there is software that will do all the conversion for you available on a pc.
is there something comperable for mac?
i want something that will:
1. rip the dvd and sync the audio and video
2. rip subtitles and sync them
3. give me a good quality image -
DVD Backup 1.1 under OS X simply decrypts and de-Macrovisions the disc. Works great and it has a nice interface.

I've never seen it. That's why I suggested what I did, I orginally suggested it, but once I saw you had OS 9, I changed it.
