I've recently started to use MPEG Streamclip but all the files I segment (avi's & mpegs) are out of sync on the audio.

Is there something within MPEG Streamclip that I can alter to prevent this or is there another piece of software I can use. Also, is it possible to re-sync files I've already segmented?

    Many thanks in anticipation.

To prevent the audio going out of sync when cutting avis and mpeg1/2 and saving the result back as avi or mpeg1/2 without re-encoding you have to cut at keyframes which is rather difficult to do using MPEG Streamclip because it does not tell you when you are on a keyframe.

I use SimpleMovieX because it has a keyframe indicator and a sticky mode in which you go from keyframe to keyframe so it is very easy to use and get it always right.

You can download the demo version which has the same feature set as the full working version, except slower saving. There is no time limitation. If you like it then you can purchase a licence to unlock the full speed of the application.

Edit: Forgot to mention that with SimpleMovieX you can also re-sync the videos you have already done.

To re-sync: QT Sync also works quite nicely although you'll have to play with it just a bit in order to get used to it. Its free. Free is good.

Sure it does. Just hit ctrl-K to advance to the next keyframe. MPEGstreamclip is very well written. Just read the docs to find out what all the capabilities are.

I stand corrected. It is actually command+K to go to the nearest keyframe which is useful but not as handy as the sticky function on SimpleMovieX because with MPEG StreamClip you can not navigate easily from keyframe to keyframe.

Disclaimer: I have no interest in SimpleMovieX other than as an user.

Yes, that's correct -- it's command-k on the Mac, control-k on Windows boxen. Thanks!

  7. Do not forget to check "Preserve GOP's at in and out" in preferences (will cut your input stream at gop end/begining, no desynch problem ).

PS: if I well remember, there was a bug in the the window version. You should uncheck this box to activate it !!!

last, you can use arrow keys top and bottom, to naviguate from GOP to GOP (it's the easiest way to know what you trim)
    bye
    For DVD, iPad, HD, connected TV, … iMovie & FCPX? MovieConverter-Studio 3 (01/24/2015) - Handle your camcorder's videos? even in 60p or 60i? do a slow-motion? MovieCam.
