  1. I appreciate this is mainly a video forum but I would like to know if anyone has a Canon scanner particularly a 1240u, no matter what I do this thing won't install in english even though english was checked in all attempts.
I have had this before on a previous install some time ago but can't remember how I got it back, I've tried downloading updated driver but ended up with it not working and re-installing supplied driver.
I'm running XP home and I think the language it is in is Potugees.
    Any coments would be appreciated.

  2. Had something very similar a while back, factory disk installing only in a foreign language.

The answer was a complete uninstall and removal of ALL associated drivers and software, and download complete new package, not just the drivers. Also remove all temporary files in both Windows Temp and User Temp directories.

There was apparently a switch incorrectly set in the install program which is referenced by all other attempts to install related software. If any traces are left of the original software, all subsequent installs will be in the incorrect language.

It has been a while and while I could not swear to it, I believe the product in question was also a Canon, might have been a scanner but IIRC it was an all-in-one printer. Pretty sure the language was French, definitely was not English, Spanish, or German.
