    Hi,

I was trying to generate a new SVCD discformat with vcdImager, because
pOWERDVD 4.0 did not support the burned format (PAL).

So I extracted the mpg-file with isobuster from the bin-file.
But when I look at the size of the extracted mpg and the burned image
mpg-file I see that the mpg-file on the burned image is larger.

    On disc:819 Mb
    extracted on HD:809 mb

How is this possible? Something to do with errorcorrection?

Second: I tried to generate a new binfile from the original mpg with VCDImager 0.6.2, but at the end of scanning the mpg-file it generates an error and the binfile will not be generated.
I have seen the mpg-file is in PAL format.

So, is there another way to generate a new SVCD from a mpg-file?
And why will Powerdvd 4.0 not play a PAL-disc?
Strange thing is, that it will play the mpg-file on the disc when I use file-mode.
I am talking about the Centropy release of Imposter.

    Thanks, Erwin.

When you extracted the image, you did not take into account the space it will occupy on your hard drive, which is different to the space it would take on a CDR (File allocation size) if your using a fat32 for example.

The rest I find hard to follow, as the ISO should contain a data file, which is a SVCD mpeg, where most programs can handle dat files of this type, others don’t.

If you intend re-creating a disk from scratch, the mpeg should be a SVCD mpeg and not a data file. VCDgear V2 for example will read a dat file and save as mpeg.

I stopped using Powerdvd so don’t know what its like these days, but sounds like the disk is not constructed correctly, therefore will only play in file mode.
