  1. Hello there all...long time reader first post

I'll get straight to the point...having some audio issues with my Philips DVP3040 dvd player. It worked last week fine, this week I try to put a DVD in and no audio.

I've used 3 different audio cables, used both sets of audio inputs on the tv. All I hear is a loud pitched noise, when I turn the tv up loud to about 30 or 40 the noise is a high vibrating noise but I can faintly hear the movie audio.

Has the audio inputs on the dvd fianlly bit the dust ?

Any ideas or help would be great.

    Thanks in advance !

Check your Setup menu and be sure that somehow the audio output didn't get changed to something you aren't using. Yes, it is possible that your audio outputs are bad now, but check the Setup just to be sure someone (wife, kid or other family member) didn't accidentally change something without telling you or it somehow got reset when it shouldn't have by something like a loss of power.

I get that sometimes as well on one of my philips DVD's. Its always the audio mysteriously changing itself. Change it to analog audio in the DVD menu.

  4. Thanks for the tip. I went though the menus again and reset everything in the dvd. No change same audio issue.

I guess the inputs are dead

  5. I took a look at the dvd menus and in the audio section and played with all the settings made no difference.

Tried the tv settings...played with those made no difference.
