Usually when playing a song in WMP or Songbird, the song doesn't skip. But if I am using another application while playing the song skips for a few seconds usually at the same part of the song in the different audio players. Is this a soundcard issue or software issue and how would I go about fixing this?

  2. System resources are probably too low for multitasking on your pc.

Not enough memory, too many services etc...512MB is not a lot these days when you run firewall, antivirus, etc.. etc.. To confirm this, open up task manager - look at cpu usage and memory figures

You are probably accessing the page file virtual memory on the HD because of the low memory.

You could try to defrag your HD, disable unused services to optimize memory, close applications that aren't being used.

CPU time is almost 0% but I think it is because of my drive which I am playing it out of or the actual mp3 files have some skips or something in it making it play like that... But the 512 works with what I have, so thanks anyways.
