Yes, I do it ..but my cable box has coax, s-vid, and rca out....so I just take my pick and let the cable box tune...as my capture card does not have a built in tuner. I use rca for sound and s or rca for video.

  3. Your comments set my brain in motion and I realized something - my capture card has a tuner - probly alot like my VCR does. So why not treat it like my VCR- I have to put my VCR on channel 3 to get the digital cable to come through so I put my Capture Card on channel 3 and guess what - works like a dream - now I can capture all the pay channels and crazy digi channel now too

Does your card have audio out, or is the audio usally just there,,,,,,dont know how to phrase this...my card makes me use the audio in on my sound card reguardless of the video source...so I am thinking ...does your pass audio internally or do you have to have a patch cord from tuner cards audio out to sound card aux in??
    Does that make since?

  6. Yes my card makes me patch the audio into my sound card - it sounds great when im watching it - but my captures are just a low level crackling - i can capture regular cable just fine.

  7. I didnt figure it out - but I fixed it - just think god for the restore feature on Windows these days - I just restored my system back to a time when it was capturing audio just fine and now it seems to work.

i noticed that it started happening when I installed powervcr2. First I thought it was just PVCR2 that couldn't capture audio but soon I discovered that none of my program could capture audio

Here's how i capture from digital cable. I have an all in wonder 8500dv. My digital box is hooked to my vcd, from there I just run the composite cables to the inputs for my capture card.

I then set up all time captures for teh card (using mmc 7.6, I have don't have a problem with it and the captures look very nice) to capture the shows. I then set my digital box to also record the shows(this allows it to switch channels if I want to record more than one show when I am not home).

    Hope this helps
