hi, if i set my cable TV set-top box video output to 'widescreen' and then capture with my PVR (hauppauge) am i now capturing ALL the picture information being broadcast - as opposed to 'letterboxed' with the black bars top+bottom?
But now if i load captured mpeg2 file into DVD authoring prog - back to 4:3!
Is there a 16:9 'flag' in mpeg2 files that needs editing?
Is there a prog that will do this?
cheers . . .

Your problem is either occurring with your capture card or your authoring program, or both.
Some capture cards don't support 16:9, i.e. they don't "flag" it as it comes into the system so your PC treats it as if it's 4:3.
Also, some authoring programs, like SpruceUp, don't accept 16:9. I think some of the DVDit range do.
