    Hello,

I have read the nice howto on vhs to dvd in this forum. It works well with PAL VHS tapes, but not with a NTSC tape I have.

The VCR can play both PAL and NTSC and this NTSC tape works well with my TV. When I test with tvtime I get black/white when the tv-standard is set to NTSC. When set to PAL I get colors but a lot of flicker. I hope to be able to use mencoder to rip this tape, but I have to figure out how to get both colors and a stable picture first.

My capture device is an ancient BT848A card. The VCR is connected with a s-video cable (but in tv-time I have to set input source to composite 3 to get a picture?)

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Erling

The TV is quasi-playing, the card is not. Try PAL-60 setting on the card.
