ONE disk VCD's????

Totally new to this and i hope one of you can help me. I converted bridget jones diary using tmpgenc and followed the one disc tutorial to the letter. When i play it on my pc DVD drive it works great but when i put it onto my stand alone its all choppy video and sound. Its a pain in the ass and i've used countless blanks trying to figure it out. Dunno if its the DVD player i have AIWA, was a pain in the ass with my stereo too. When i make the film on 2 discs it works fine, not a skip or anything but when i change it to one. its crap! any help would be much obliged!!! Cheers!

I hope you realize that when you make a one disc vcd it is actually an xvcd which some players will not play.

Also you are going to lose quality. You should just stick to the 2 disc or if you really want to keep trying the one disc vcd use a cd-rw if your player will allow so if you have anymore problems you can just delete the disc.

You don't necessarily lose quality, because with CQ or 2-pass VBR bits are assigned where needed. The VCD CBR spec is quite wasteful, since even a blank screen is assined the full bitrate. So, it is quite possible to fit 100-120 minutes on one CD with lower average bitrate than standard VCD, and without sacrificing any noticeable quality. Audio can also be reduced from 224 to 160, or possibly 128. Whether or not the DVD player accepts it is another matter. Some do and some don't. 8)
