My trusty old tv finally gave out and has moved on to silicon heaven. I managed to get a cheap 2nd hand one but it has only 1 scart socket no headphone socket or phono . I then stumbled across this item:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000NP9S6O/ref=ord_cart_shr/026-9408273-01852...A15TW43BF9Y9WW
Which I think would mean I could plug in headphones, however not been too techy when it comes to these things, there are a couple of things I would like to know.

    1. Will this only split out audio of things coming into the scart socket pvr/pc/camera or can it also take the audio from the tv?

    2. If i have this scart plug thingy (technical term) plugged in will i still get audio coming out of the TV *AND* the headphones or would I have to take the scart plug out to get audio from the TV?

Hope someone can understand what im asking.
    Thanks

  2. Whether it will work with your TV or not depends upon how the one SCART socket on your TV is wired. Some are only wired for input. Some can be wired for input and output. The SCART wiring diagram is here:

    http://www.leadsdirect.co.uk/technical/scartwiring.html

You can see connections for Audio In and Audio Out.

It also depends on which pins are connected to the adapter kit.

Another thing be aware of is that the audio signals on the SCART pins are "line level" which means that if you connect headphones to them they will be very weak. i.e., you'll need some form of line-to-headphone amplifier. Also, you have to match the impedance of the headphones otherwise it is possible to damage the audio circuitry of the TV/cam etc.

An alternative option is to use the 3.5mm adapter that comes with it and connect some powered multimedia speakers that have a headphone output. This would take care of the low levels and impedance mismatch. In effect, they act as a headphone amplifier and may be cheaper.
