You "I GOT IT CONVERTED TO dvd-RW-"
You did it correctly?
If so, why not just "copy disk" the DVD-RW to a DVD-R or DVD+R.
Unless your DVD-RW has the wrong file structure, then all bets are off.

What format is the CD in?
Is it VCD format or something else?
Need to know that before going forward here ...

P.S.
If it is a VCD then most (knock on wood) DVD players should be able to play it A-OK as is."The eyes are the first thing that you have to destroy ... because they have seen too many bad things" - Lucio Fulci

By format he's not referring to the brand or type of disc. He's asking what it is, is it just a file on disc which would be a data disc?Originally Posted by hockeyzone
Put it in your CD drive, go to my computer, right click the drive and select explore.
Post the files and contents here, if it's just a file or two we also need the extension. -

Is "images" a file or folder? Highmat is a special format from MS that is not widely supported. The images will most likely be in that folder or if it's a file need to be extracted from it.Originally Posted by hockeyzone
On a good note those images should not be video but actual images which you can take and do with whatever you want. May even be high quality images.

As far as directly converting it I'd forget about it, if you want to create your own DVD slideshow from the extracted images there is plenty of tools for that. -
THANKS FOR GETTING BACK TO ME:
It says it is a file:
So what do I do The COALMAN: I recorded on CD/ PUT IT ON dvd -RW- WHAT PROGRAM DO I NEED to convert to DVD so I can play it on A DVD player on TV... -
There most likely is none, there's very little support for highmat. As I suggested above you could try and extract the images and create your own from scratch.Originally Posted by hockeyzone
Other than that you might try opening it with Windows Movie Maker,
You can also try the Movie Maker forums: http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/Forums/Default.aspx -
In one of your previous posts you said ... wmv , thats windows media video .
For this you could :
Copy wmv file to hard drive ... just plain old copy it .
Now choices of conversion come from
Windows movie maker
Windows media encoder
DVD_Flick - more straight forward
Avi2Dvd - takes time but automated process
or
https://www.videohelp.com/tools/ConvertXtoDVD ... theres a link to the older freeware version
Super , although it may still be only experimental ... do not sellect output as vob ... they wont work well , just output as mpeg2 with ac3 audio .
----
As for the home dvd player , it may not support either the file type you are trying to get it to play ... or it dosent support + / rw media .
----
Should the program used to do the conversion output ifo's , bup's , and vob's , you can burn these using imgburn .
If the output is mpegs , then you need to demux them .
Mpeg streamclip from http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-win.html , to demux the mpeg into seperate video and audio streams
Dump the audio stream , open the mpeg in virtualmod , set audio to full processing , no compression , convert to 48khz , 16bit , stereo , save as wav .
Convert wav to ac3 using besweet (no lower than 64kpbs) .
Then use dvdauthorgui to author to folder , play back on pc , if happy , burn with imgburn to dvd-r , 4x , do not pack more than 4.3gig to disc .
-----
Ok , on the odd chance its an actually VCD , then you want vcdgear to extract mpeg from dat ... or mpeg streamclip may also do this , but I have yet to test it . -
I'm guessing that's the icon or what the icon is reporting it as, the folder/file structure he listed next would be more akin to a formatted disc. I've done some searching myself on how you would go about extracting the images. In my searches I found it stores the actual images as opposed to creating a single video file. For playback it sources from them, there are a few DVD players that support this and they must generate transitions and other things themselves. Similar to what you would have for a flash animation or powerpoint presentation with embedded images, video or audio where the dynamics of the presentation are created by the player/viewer and not by the file.Originally Posted by Bjs
I'd even try it myself out of curiosity but the only way I can see of creating one is by burning a disc and my dvd burner is not working at the moment. -
Thanks Guys,
I'll try some of the things you've said, If you come up with some other ideas post it here please.
Quick Question: I made the cd on windows movie maker...what would be a good system to purchase like moviemaker that is just easy, so I can get a DVD out of it. The reason I want it to be DVD is that I can send to family and they can just put into a DVD player. -
Mentioning that to begin with would have saved everyone alot of trouble, I and I'll guess everyone else assumed you just had disc. In movie Maker instead of save to CD use Save to my computer. In the options select DV-AVI for output. Use the free version of convertx2dvd to convert the DV-AVI file Movie Maker produces to DVD files and folders. Use your DVD burning software (usually Nero or Roxio) to burn the files to disc.Originally Posted by hockeyzone
