Hi people!![]()
Well, recently I bought a LG DVD Recorder, it is not a drive, but an equipment like a videocassete recorder.
Well, it records the movies/tv shows using DVD Video format. I tried to read the disc here in my LG DVD-RW (now the drive :P ) model GSA-4165B and sadly I did not see any files.
Well, following the instructions from the LG DVD Recorder manual, it requires me to finalize the disc after recorded any movie/tv. Well, this part was done perfectly. Because if I don't do that part the DVD only can be played on the LG DVD Recorder.
And I think the format from this DVD is DVD-VR or DVD+VR but I don't know if that is correct or not.
Using PowerDVD (application) I can see normaly the recorded video here. All the recordings. But when I open the DVD on Windows Explorer I can't see any files.
So, my question is: How to rip the video?
Because I tried the following application: "#1 DVD Ripper" available here
http://www.dvdtox.com/dvd_ripper.htm
And that application requires me to open the .IFO file from the DVD.
But using IsoBuster (good application) I can see the .IFO file because the DVD is recorded using the UDF filesystem on the folder DVD_RTAV
Anyway, thanx for reading this message and my best regards!!!![]()

Hmm, strange. I have an LG DVD player as well and have to finalise the disc for it to play in other players. Once finalised, I have no problems viewing it in Explorer and seeing either the VOB or VRO files (depending which mode I chose to record in).
Are you sure you have finalised it correctly? Have you tried playing it in another DVD player to be sure? Perhaps there is a setting in Explorer that needs tweaking? -
Man, thank you for answering me. 8)
I forgot to install the Nero InCD Reader here. Because I still use Windows 98SE. Now I can read the DVD, including the DVD_RTAV folder.
On my LG DVD Recorder I allways use the VR format. Because my DVD-Recorder has editting capabilities, you know, removing commercials. Erasing small parts from the DVD-VR and this is not possible if I choose the DVD-Video format.
If I choose the DVD-Video format will I find VOB files in the DVD?
Because tools like "#1 DVD Ripper" don't open the VRO file.
Well, I know VRO and VOB are in fact MPEG-2 files. I have the MPEG Video Wizard here and it opens the VRO File.
What do you know about tools like DVD Ripper.
- Open the VRO file.
- Choose Video/Audio Codec.
- Set an AVI File to write
- It's done!!!
Any, thanx for reading this insane message.

Yes, you should along with some other file like IFO and BUF. The only one you need to worry about and transfer to your PC is the VOB movie file.Originally Posted by BlooderButcher
