I've got an annoying problem, my xvid files that I play are playing zoomed by default, it is most noticeable on music videos, because the channel logo and song information are cutoff, I've tried resinstalling my xvid codec to no avail, I've tried using multiple programs, WMP10, media player classic, VLC, power dvd, and they all have the same output.

I found an archived post in these forums from awhile back that sounded like my problem, they guy said he could fix it by dropping his hardware acceleration, but this did nothing for me, but from the few other people i can find on the net with this problem one thing seems to be the same, the fact that we have nvidia gfx cards.

I have a 7900gtx if it helps at all.

    Thanks for any help,

This may be fairly obvious, but are you comparing the video when it's on your computer to the same video when it's shown on a TV? If so, it may be overscan, which most all TVs do. You lose about 5 -10% of the edges when you show a video on a TV.

Overscan is a major issue with subtitled video, as the subs are partially hidden when viewing on a TV. The cure, in this case, is to 'letterbox' your video with black bars. They will 'pad' out the picture so the whole frame is visible.

If this isn't it, it could be caused by improper resizing or the adjustments on your playback device.

    And welcome to our forums.

no, it isn't an overscan issue, I'm just trying to play them back on my computer monitor, my mpg's play fine, but its the xvid's that are giving me problems

I've looked into the decoder options and the different player options, none of them have any zooming activated

    Thanks for the help tho,
