Don't know much about DVD cam corder disks, but could it be a matter of the DVD not being finalized (just like the common problem with DVD recorder disks) on the camera?

Send it back to your parents, have them finalize the disk in the camera, and send it back.

My friend, in our region sending back things like that is not as easy as in Sweden, it coasts alot of money and alot of time. But there is something strange, if you played the DVD on external DVD player it works, but on the computer DVD reader it doesn't!!!!!!!

Odd indeed. Try it on some other computer - may be as simple as a media problem, or some -R / +R issue with your computer.

I'm thinking that it should fall under one (or more) of 3 problem categories:

    1. Media type incompatibility: It should say on the disc---DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM. Possibly your computer (and/or its disc reader) doesn't like that kind. Figure out which it is, and we could help further... (DVD-RAM is the worst in this area)

    2. Filesystem/Application incompatibility: It's quite possible that it is recorded in -VR or +VR mode, and/or using UDF version higher than standard DVD-Video's v1.02. The first part requires apps (like TDA) that can understand the logic, the 2nd part just requires updated filesystem drivers (or 3rd party addons).

    3. Unfinalized and/or Open Packet disc state: To fix this correctly, one should go back to the original recorder (camera in this case) and finalize from there. However, it's possible that a different recorder/burner might be able to finalize it (like Nero with your own burner). *Warning: IF it doesn't work right this could make your disc unreadable EVERYWHERE!

To understand a little more about the internal workings of the disc, I recommend that you get ISOBuster and see what it says about the type of disc, etc. It OUGHT to be able to see the disc, even if your regular OS can't...

I don't think that this is the problem, because the CD is DVD-R and my driver is DVD reader and writer.

So you are saying either I will loss the CD or I should sent it back?????
I have took the DVD to a computer speacialist, and the only thing he could do to me is recording the DVD to his computer from external DVD player, and then put it in another DVD, it works but the picture was not very clear as the original DVD and the sound wasnt concurrent with the picture.

    Tareq,
You REALLY need to give more information or get more information from the person who recorded the disc.
LOOK AT THE DISC...is it a Sony, TDK, Memorex?
Does it say +R or -R or +RW or -RW?
What computer programs (if any) have you tried to get more information from the disc? DVDDecrypter MIGHT be able to tell you and us something about this disc.
ISOBuster(as mentioned above) is another option but it is not free.
