there may be more than one host file on your system -- in fact it can be 'hidden' anywhere as long as it is in your path - or location added to the path (if necessary) .. no need to encrypt it (which didnt seem to help much)

    hosts

you can use the one above (hosts file) to replace the one you are missing -- just add the one you want to block to it ....

  3. Face it, you're going to have to use the firewall in your router or set up limited user accounts for the kids to keep them from changing the hosts file.

well you COULD lock off windows and all system file and hidden files completely using secpol.msc to prevent the file from getting changed ... then use two copies of it - one in root hidden and one in /system32/drivers/etc

    Hi.

I am trying to get myself away from myspace.

I recently broke up with my girlfriend and have a condition which makes me obsessive.
She liked to wind me up about other blokes etc etc and i dont want to see them on her myspace but i cant help going on there i know you probably think just dont go on but its easier said than done because i always get the temptation when i go on here to do it.

Luckily i have my parents 2 make up a password to prevent me.

All i need access to is email relaly and msn.

But i would really like a way to maybe encrypt myspace.com?
I just don't want any way of getting on myspace cos it's driving me demented i have started anti depressents to try and get over her. It's killing me.

I think i need to completely have access of myspace taken away aswell as that faceparty site.
I was wondering if you could provde me with something that encrypts websites.

Or another way to stop me on myspace for good?

    Cheers guys.

If your serious you need somone else to do this for you, anything we tell you can easily be undone if you know what was done. It's like putting alock on the cookie jar and hiding the key from yourself.

I think what would be ideal is a program to encrypt certain sites.

But let only my dad know the password.

Myabe the program would say somehting like 'Please enter the url you want to encrypt'
Then i would type www.myspace.com or even if i google myspace and try and click a link to direct me to it, it would also prevent access to it.

I know there has got to be a prog out there.

    How do i do it?

    Cheers.

Set up a rule in your router. Have dad change the admin password of the router. Make sure he doesn't forget it...
