I have always used DVD+Rs that I picked up at Sams/Costco and they always worked fine. I bought a stack of Taiyo Yuden DVD+R 4.7GB, 8X, White Inkjet from Rima.com. I have backed up some of my movies using my norpal process. Rip with DVDfabpro then burn with DVDshrink. Again never had any problems before with playback but when I watch these it seems they have slight skips in the movie. I thought this media was suppose to be the best??
Anyway would it make any difference if I made it an iso file and then burnt it from that rather than the vobs?
How do I update my driver as the burner is rather old? The Device manager has it listed as a _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A
Thanks for your help
Any other questions to solve this problem so my 100+ DVDs aren't wasted...

DVD Shrink doesn't burn. It uses either Nero, CopytoDVD or DVD Decrypter to do the actual burning. Which are you using ?

You can find firmware and a flasher for your drive at the Dangerous Brothers

Two things to look at
1. Try burning with ImgBurn instead. You don't need Shrink in the mix unless you are actually reducing the size of the video. If you are, output to your HDD and burn from there, or get the version of Shrink that allows Imgburn to be used as a burning engine.
2. Update your firmware. This is the place to look : http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php Note : not everything here is official firmware, but as you are well out of warranty, it won't really matter much.
A final note : there are a number of points where compatibility can become an issue. The disc and burner, the disc and player. You may find that your burns with these discs play fine on other players, and it is just your player that doesn't like these particular discs.
I have an NEC2500A burner, and have used Ritek and now TDK without burning a coaster (touch wood). The couple of times of have tried TY discs (sold as Fujifilm discs but confirmed as TYs) are the only time I have burned coasters. I was getting around 50% success from them.
If you find a combination that works, stick with it and resist the temptation to buy that cheap spindle to save a few bucks. It's not always worth it.Read my blog here.

Coincidence?....maybe. I no longer test that theory.
