ok some opinions please. I want to buy another dvd burner but SATA. I was looking at Samsung SH-S183L or the Plextor PX-716SA. Which one is better or is there an even better dvd burner out there. Would like it with lighscribe if possibe. Thanks for the help.

Not a lot of choices right now, but there will be more options later this year. Liteon has one out right now for $40-50, also Plextor has the 755 w/ Sata(approx $120), which I would choose over the 716. One to watch for is the Pioneer 112, which will be released sometime this spring w/ Sata, apparently a month or so after the IDE models.

That's about the best you can do in the US currently. Prices seem to be coming down though. -
I use a TSSTCorp (or Samsumg I believe) which came with my HP, and it has lightscribe. I don't use that feature, but I can tell you this drive has yet to create a single coaster. I really thought it was going to give problems as I've always liked either Pioneer or Plextor, but this little baby seems to be holding its' own.
Not like this is used either, but it does DVD-RAM as well as all the other formats

I am having major problems with my Lite-On SH-16A7S-06. It will not burn reliably in my new tower (Epox 570sli board) and it refuses to even read or play newer Sony DVD releases - declaring them to have incompatible formats ("Stranger Than Fiction" - R1 Wide, for example). Newegg is perfectly willing to take the drive back - and ship me another one - but I doubt that will solve anything, resulting in me spending shipping money to no purpose? Lite-On is ignoring me so far.Originally Posted by OneSickPup

TSST = Toshiba/Samsung joint venture
The drives work pretty well. -
I just bought the SAMSUNG 183L from Best Buy which seems to burn okay with the dvd media that I currently stock which is VERBATIM, TAIYO YUDEN, SONY DVD+R & MAXELL (MADE IN JAPAN) discs.
