i'm having a problem with ffmpegx and subtitles. i have tried the load subs button in filters and they show up in the preview, but not in the final product. i would like to combine subs and movie in one file. i don't want to use vlc or any other program. i have used quicktime to combine subs and movie, but when converted in ffmpegx, the subs are gone. does anyone know how to get this done right? thanks.

What's the format of the movie (divx .avi, other .avi, .mpg, .mov, etc) and what's the format of the sub file (.sub, .srt, etc) ?

Movie is .avi or sometimes .mov. Subs are .srt. I have the .srt bundle for quicktime which allows me to combine them, but when converted through ffmpegx the subs disappear. i'm trying to convert the movie to .mp4 so i can play it on my ipod as well as my computer. I have tried to install the earlier 9s mencoder but ffmegx won't let me use it. it says the mencoder needs to be updated and won't use the 9s mencoder.
