i've been using my sony hdr-hc3 camcorder and noticed that after recording any footage, i'm unable to view the recorded material in any other camcorder (ie: 3ccd, ccd, etc...)!? Is this common? i had sent a wedding message to a buddy of mine and he called me up saying that nothing is on the tape, but when viewing on my hd camcorder i can view the recorded material?

It will only play on other HDV camcorders. Is your friend's HDV or SD?

This may all be possible with the HC-3 but I don't have one to test. -
or, if you record in standard dv which is an option somewhere in the menus, iirc, then the tape should have normal minidv on it and be readable in other cams.
again, i say should as i don't have one to test with either.--
