Greetings
I've been trying to compress, losslessly, my vhs caputes made with a canopus advc-300 and capturing uncompressed. Can I use th Huff or Alparysoft codec to losslessly compress them below 13GB/hour. If so, could someone point me to a good guide.
Thanks,
Michael

Since DV is already compressed by a 5:1 with a lossy algorithm, decompressing it and then saving with a lossless codec will almost always get you a larger file.

Lagarith is usually more economical that huffyuv, and still comes in at around 30GB/hour, depending on the footage it is compressing.
If you want to capture uncompressed, you cannot use the advc-300, you have to use an analogue capture card. The advc-300 compresses the video using the DV codec before it gets to your PC.Read my blog here.

From what I've read That was the assumption I made, but I wanted to make sure. Off to buy new hard drives...
