  1. I downloaded some movies from the internet and they have built in subtitles. But after i've gone through everything and play it on my DVD player, it works fine, except that the picture is "stretched" and parts of the top, bottom, and sides are cut off, so i can't even see the subtitiles. What can I do to be able to view the video at the proper size?

Another small problem I have is that it starts playing 1 second into the video, meaning that the first second is "cut off." That is another problem that i'd like to fix.

Oh yea, the video seems fine when i'm watching the encoded file on my computer (i can see the subtitles, and the first second doesn't get cut off)

I am using TMPGEnc 2.5, using the default 'VideoCD (NTSC).mcf' settings to encode, and Nero 5.5.7.2 to burn the VCD, again with the default (NTSC) settings.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, THANKS!!

  4. In TMPGENC, click on the Settings button at the bottom right.

Under the MPEG settings, look for the ADVANCED tab

Under the Advanced tab, look for Video Arrange Method

Use either Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio) or
Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio 2).

You have to make sure to keep the aspect ratio or your VCD will have a funny looking picture.

    Cheers

  5. i figured it out....if u search for "overscan" or "fitcd" in the forums, u should find what ur looking for.....tvs generally have overscan meaning the picture is cut off along the edges when playin vcd......if u end up using the program "fitcd" to calculate the screen size u should convert the mpg to then this link i found helpful in how to use "fitcd" : http://galileo.spaceports.com/~truman/resize/resize.html
