When I try to monitor the recording from my portable mp3 device to Roxio sound editor I have to use the microphone input to my pc instead of line-in because I can't get enough volume out of my portable. There's no problem when I use line-in but with mic -in I get no sound.
The recordings come out ok but I still would like to monitor the sound when I'm recording. I've checked everything and can't find a problem whth my connections or configurations.
This is driving me nuts. Is there anything I have overlooked? Thanks in advance

Sounds funny to me .
From portable device to line-in
Turn device audio volume up to 85%
Go into audio control panel and lift the slider on line-in ... uncheck if set to mute .
Pc software set to record / monitor from line in .
Audio should be heard via speakers on pc .
Also check you have the sound card set to desktop speaker's ... it could be set to 5.1 / 7.1 which would mess it about .
