I'd recommand a Pioneer DVD model, a 10x or a 16x, just get yourself a nice Pioneer, those are among the best (and cheapest!) DVD-ROM drives for the PC, of course, this is my opinion, and experience only.

or if you're like me and don't want to spend any more money on the computer... go to circuit city and get the delta 12x ide dvd-rom drive. $40-$20 mailin-rebate = 20 chalupas
THIS IS HARDCORE -
i also got a delta dvd drive. good thing.
if you cant buy any of the above (that is includeing msgs before me) i just recommend getting the cheapest around there; it mostly works without any problem -
I'd also like to comment that the 16x Pioneer is not all that expensive, you can propably find it for 64$ and maybe even 54$ now days, just check PriceWatch for Pioneer 106S or 116 DVD drives.
