A few months ago I purchased the Toshiba RD-XS35SU. It replaced an older Toshiba DVD/VCR combo. I am using the optical cable for sound. Just as I did with my old DVD/VCR combo. The problem I am having is that the sound quality doesn't seem to be as good. I have to turn my receiver up more to get the same decible level. And the richness in sound doesn't seem to be there, as much as my old one.
The old combo was only $129 and this one was quite a bit more. I know I'm getting alot more for the money. But I would think the sound quality should be at least as good. (or better). Maybe I should have researched this more. Anyone have any input? Maybe I'm missing some setting on the DVD player to set the sound quality. Thanks for any info you may have.
just to add. The DVD's I'm using are store bought movies.
